Maximizing Performance: Where to Host Your Raspberry Pi in Big Datacenters

A little over three years ago, LowEndTalk member @MarkLuun created a guide highlighting hosting providers that support Raspberry Pi systems through renting or colocation.

Why choose to host on a Raspberry Pi? Beyond being an affordable alternative to dedicated servers, it presents a playful opportunity to experiment with ARM architecture. Many users seek total control over their hosting environment or require the ability to run applications continuously without being flagged by service providers for excessive CPU usage. While an Intel Xeon or AMD Ryzen processor significantly outperforms the Pi, securing a dedicated server for just $3.14 a month (at DataIdeas) is a compelling advantage. I previously had a Raspberry Pi hosted at DataIdeas, and it proved to be an excellent option for managing small websites and utility scripts.

In my experience, I opted to rent a Pi. However, if you already own one, you can send it for colocation. It’s certainly more convenient than trying to package and ship a bulky 4U server securely!

In 2021, @MarkLuun had compiled a thorough list featuring about three dozen providers; now, he has expanded it to over 50 for colocation and a dozen for rental. Exciting developments! If you’re interested in Raspberry Pi hosting, this list is an excellent starting point for exploring your possibilities.

Special appreciation goes out to @MarkLuun for compiling this list for everyone in our community.
